IHOP (sans Pancakes)

It was the third day of Eid so we decided to try out Ihop - International house of pancakes. It has opened recently in Dubai in Mall of the Emirates and is very famous. However, we weren't in the mood for pancakes (hopefully will go there again just to try their pancakes) so we opted for the omelettes.

I was excited to see the coffee coming in such big cups however it was a dissappointment. Or maybe it is American coffee.

A healthy plate of fruit.

Orange juice, Garden Omelette, fruit and hash browns.

Egg Crepes with hollandaise sauce.

Over all, Ihop was a satisfying experience except maybe for the coffee. I ordered a Cade Latte and my sister a cappucchino and we couldn't find any difference between both. And it was far too bitter even after adding 3 packets of sugar.

I have full plans to go there again and try their pancakes as well as main course. The prices were reasonable too, the coffee ranges from 14 to 16AED if taken seperately however if you're a coffee drinker and like a lot of your coffee I'd recommend the unlimited coffee. Our bill for all of the above came upto 148AED. And although it was three of us women we ended up sharing the two plates and found it enough for three people. Their helping are quite big.

Bruschetta Chicken

I discovered Pioneer Woman a couple of months ago and I fell in love with her blog. However, I never really got around to trying anything until today. So I made Chicken Brushetta for Iftar as I'm trying to eat a little light this Ramadan.

It turned out pretty well. In fact, its going into one my favourite pile. This is a perfect recipe if you're trying to eat low carb or following the 17 Day Diet (which I sometimes tend to do).

Although Pioneer Woman has step-by-step instructions on how to make this recipe (and hers is more detailed / better pictures) I photographed my own adventure in the kitchen.

As this was a last minute thing I had to make do without a few things, namely: Yellow tomatoes, Parmesan cheese and white bread. (Health reasons) I also used garlic paste instead of smashed cloves of garlic.

Chop cherry tomotatoes - take a bunch depending on how many people you're making this for.

Heat olive oil and garlic paste.

I bought my own basil plant! Cut basil leaves into pieces.

Add the olive oil and garlic paste into a bowl followed by the tomatoes.

Put in some balsamic vinegar.

Add the cut basil leaves - check pioneer woman's blog on how to cut if you're lost.

Add salt (I left out pepper as I'm not a fan)

Voila! You have Bruschetta ready. You can eat this on its own with bread.

I wanted it with Chicken though so I marinated some chicken pieces with a lot of herbs. Feel free to experiment.

I then grilled them on Geroge Colemans Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine

After they were done I added them to the Bruschetta. You can easily turn this into a proper salad by adding lettuce.

Mmmm. This turned out really good.

I made this only for myself. However, if you're making it for more than one person then you need to take in the ingredients accordingly. Instead of white bread, I heated brown bread and had it with that. This is easily a very good low-carb recipe that is tasteful and delicious. Not to mention, very easy to make!

Pad Thai

Today I had Pad Sew for lunch from the restaurant Pad Thai. My friend had introduced me to the restaurant Pad Thai half a month ago and I fell in love. Their dishes are simple, yet great. Not to mention they are fresh as they cook everything in front of you.

I love the Pad Sew with Shrimps, however this one is with chicken as I felt like trying it out. Pad Thai is located in the food courts of Dubai Mall and Mirdiff City Centre and it is a must go for anyone wanting to eat Thai food in an informal setting. Great taste and great quality.

This particular dish, Pad Sew, is made up of large rice noodles, broccoli, soya sauce, egg and other ingredients the chef tosses into a wok and cooks. You can ask for a spicy or non-spicy version. It's an excellent meal.

Paul Restaurant & Bakery

My sister and I had a early shopping trip at Mirdiff City Centre the other day so we left early in the morning. We decided to stop at Paul to have a mini breakfast and I ordered a cappuccino and three mini bread baked goodies. One was an almond croissant and I don't remember the name of the others. Paul never fails to please regardless of what you order. Their quality is excellent and so is the atmosphere. Next time you want to stop for coffee or dessert or even a main course, Paul would be an excellent choice. Some people would find it a bit pricey but I consider it worth the money and taste.

In fact, their food is so good that my friends and I stop there regulary. Today we were at Dubai Mall and after a long shopping trip decided to indulge in some Paul hot chocolate and dessert.
